Beginners and experienced carvers have been learning to carve and paint decoy style ducks and wading birds in my workshop in the garden since 1998. In two days someone can complete a traditional wader or a duck in three days. Everyone takes home a quality completed ‘antique’ style bird having learnt many traditional techniques. |

There is space for three people and so tuition is very individual. Everything you need in the way of wood, tools and paint is provided as well as good lunches and plenty of tea and coffee. The cost is £110 per day or £140 for sole tuition. People can also learn the specialized techniques of realistic soft feather carving. Pupils return home with a completed sampler of different types of feathers having experimented with different tools. Choice Most people wish to carve Mallard, Teal, or Pintail but others have recently successfully carved Avocet, Lapwing and Goldeneye. I ask people to choose in advance so that I can design carve and paint a model so they can see where they are going. The most popular are Mallards, Teals and Pintails. |
